Things You Need in The Office Going Into 2020

As 2019 comes to a close, like many office managers, we are looking ahead and starting to plan for the new year. For many people this means, reassessing budgets, setting new goals and taking inventory of what needs to be updated in the office. If you’re looking for inspiration, we put together a list of things we think you need in the office going into 2020. Read more below.

Project management Platform

If you don’t have one already, a project management platform can make a huge difference in overall productivity and efficiency in the office. Instead of everyone working off of their own project lists and tasks, you can have everything in one place. Create projects and assign tasks to people as necessary. Communicate and ask questions directly on the platform. Everyone gets to see the most up-to-date info and stay in the loop. Check out some of our favorite project management tools:

  • Asana
  • Trello
  • Basecamp
  • Podio
  • Zoho

Slack

Slack is a great way to stay in touch and communicate with your team about upcoming projects, general updates and even what you’re all doing for lunch! Communicating over group texts or mass emails can get confusing and slow things down. With Slack, everyone can chat, easily,  in one place. You can create different channels for different topics of conversation and create groups for easier communication about projects.

Team Swag

Swag for your office team is a great way to get people more invested in the company culture and is a great way to rep your company or business! Branded T-shirts, water bottles, bags and more will show your team you appreciate the work they are doing and also want them to be excited about the place they work. You might be surprised by how much they love and actually use these items!

Comfortable chairs

When was the last time you updated your desk chairs? If it’s been awhile, it may be time to take inventory and assess whether or not to order new ones. Depending on the type of work you do, you most likely spend a lot of your day sitting at your desk. The last thing you need is to experience back pain and diminish your ability to do your job. Don’t underestimate the difference a good quality chair with proper back support can make!

Plants

Adding a little green to your office space brightens up the place and can make a difference in your mood and productivity! Plants naturally clean the air, provide more oxygen and just make the space look nicer. Think about giving the workplace a refresh in the new year by putting a few little green friends around the office.

Office Snacks

Having a kitchen stocked with office snacks can actually be a great benefit to your workplace. Not only will your employees feel valued and appreciated, but having snacks throughout the day will actually help them to stay more alert and focused on tasks. The new year is a great time to reassess and adjust your office budget. Consider budgeting for some healthy snacks next year!

Updated computer programs and software

Every year, technology gets more advanced and there are new versions of programs and softwares that you use in the office every day. Set aside time in the new year to take note of what software you are using that might be out of date. Update what you can and you’ll be surprised by the difference it makes in the office! Working with old equipment slows down the process and can keep you from operating at 100 percent.
